Drum electronic Set

A common electronic drum set consists of three main elements:

The pads, in which piezoelectric captors are commonly called triggers.

A drive-to-midi trigger responsible for transforming the signal created by a MIDI triggers.

A sampler module, which produces a sound determined by the MIDI signal received.

Normally the module includes the function of converter-to-midi trigger. There are also cases in which the converter is separate and uses a sound card as a sampler module.

The actual electronic drum pads consists of many elements has an acoustic drum, all have the same nature except those serving a similar function to the hi-hat pedal and kick drums sound. The first allows "open" or "close" the charles, changing the MIDI signal and thus the sound produced by the module, the second instead serves only as a kicker, just like an acoustic drum. So we can say that a standard electronic drum kit consists of the following:

    * Drummer

    * + Hi-hat pedal

    * Ride

    * Crash

    * Toms 1 and 2

    * Tom 3 Goliath

    * Bombo + pedal

Operation

When hitting a pad with the stick, creating a potential difference across piezoelectric sensors or resistance force sensors (FSR, by force sensitive resistor). The resulting signals are sent to a module via TS or TRS cables, and are transformed into sound waves, which produce the desired drum sound, taking the pad causes the MIDI signal and the force applied to this and other data . Most modern modules have inputs for 2 or more cymbals, bass drum, toms of 3-4, a drummer (usually can produce two signals, snare or rim) and a hi-hat. The hi-hat, as we said before, has a pedal that controls the "virtual aperture", producing sounds ranging from hi-hat open completely closed, and middle sounds in better quality kits.

Each pad can be assigned a different sound, so a drummer who use this type of battery has full freedom to configure their sound, creating sound different kits with a single drum machine. In addition, it is possible to assign any sound, not just battery, their pads. A lot of drummers use this possibility of industrial music. This factor is seen by many as a great advantage over acoustic drums, since with a single set of battery can play jazz, rock and ballads, simply by selecting the sound kits from the module.
